Earth Closet for a School in Afghanistan
With this gift, you are helping to build crucially needed earth closets near schools of northern Afghanistan’s rural areas.
One closet costs €150, of which half is collected in Estonia. The remaining part of the money needed for building materials and construction work is collected by the local community. During the years 2013-2016, Mondo helped to build ~100 earth closets to different rural areas of Afghanistan.
Mondo’s local partner is Tolo Social and Cultural Services, an organization that supports development of women and children in different rural areas.
With this gift, you are sponsoring the Brilliant Fund, which supports schools and exceptional students in Ghana, Kenya, Burma, and Afghanistan.
The Saidush Shuhada School is situated in the Chabok village of Sar-e Pol province, and over 700 children study there. The pictured earth closet was built near the school in 2015, and it is also used by local people when they visit the mosque or health centre of the village. This way, in addition to the students’, the villagers’ awareness of hygiene and the importance of preserving the environment raises.
