{"id":41170,"date":"2023-10-05T15:16:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T12:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mondo.org.ee\/?p=41170"},"modified":"2023-10-06T15:26:14","modified_gmt":"2023-10-06T12:26:14","slug":"mondo-academy-media-at-war-in-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mondo.org.ee\/en\/mondo-academy-media-at-war-in-ukraine\/","title":{"rendered":"Mondo Academy: Media at war in Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re excited to invite you to a <a href=\"https:\/\/fb.me\/e\/ZCSscFAP\">Mondo Academy evening<\/a> on October 10th at 18 with the deputy chief editor of the Kyiv Independent Toma Istomina, and former Estonian president Kersti Kaljulaid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Journalists in Ukraine work to bring fact based and valuable information to the public while countering false information from Russia, as well as the influence of oligarchs on home soil and a fog of unverified information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kersti Kaljulaid and Toma Istomina will be discussing:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the role media has in the context of the war in Ukraine,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the importance of verifying and countering false information,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the possible political developments in Ukraine,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the influence and coverage of corruption within Ukraine.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kersti Kaljulaid is former Estonian\u00a0 president, who stands by Ukraine <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">both politically and through practical initiatives.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Among other things, the President Kaljulaid Foundation has supported independent journalism in Ukraine during the war.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toma Istomina is a journalist, deputy chief editor and one of the founders of the Kyiv independent, an English-language media outlet that has garnered millions of followers in social media since it started in November 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The e<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">vent is free for all, but <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/y5UPGbeZD7E73Xh2A\">previous registration<\/a> is necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019re excited to invite you to a Mondo Academy evening on October 10th at 18 with the deputy chief editor of the Kyiv Independent Toma Istomina, and former Estonian president Kersti Kaljulaid.
