This reduces young people\u2019s interest in technology and engineering, as they do not see a clear connection between what they learn and real life.<\/p>\n<p>Another major challenge in Kenya is the low representation of women in these fields. Gender inequality and traditional gender roles often steer women towards agriculture, healthcare, and the service sector, while high-tech fields remain largely out of reach for them.<\/p>\n<p>With support from <a href=\"https:\/\/estdev.ee\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV)<\/a> and\u00a0in cooperation with <a href=\"https:\/\/unicornsquad.ee\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HK Unicorn Squad<\/a>, Mondo is adapting the HK Unicorn Squad model\u2014developed in Estonia and now widely popular\u2014for girls in rural Kenya to support their participation and opportunities in the STEM field.<\/p>\n<p>Girls\u2019 science clubs will be established in three schools in Kisumu County, and nine specialists will be trained as facilitators, bringing STEM education to 310 girls!<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kenya\u2019s education system faces several challenges, including in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
