School bag<\/h1>\n

With this gift, you support the education of children in Burma, Ghana, Lebanon, Kenya, or Uganda.<\/h4>\n

Globally about 258 million children and youth are out of school. 1 out of 10 children worldwide don\u2019t have access to primary level education. Nearly half of them are girls and young women. <\/span>Education is one of the main keys to breaking out of poverty – for instance, educated girls earn higher wages as adults and are more informed about taking care of their and their children’s health.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mondo works with communities in Burma, Ghana, Lebanon, Kenya, an<\/span>d Uganda where the basic school kit is unfortunately a only a wish for many kids. In many cases this leads to the child dropping out of school. Her family is conservative and holds traditions in high esteem, and her parents are not convinced whether Zamzama should attend school at all. Her father would like her to help with gathering firewood for the family instead.\u00a0She explains, “My parents do not want me to go to school and learn, because they do not have enough money for it, and we cannot afford it.” Zamzama succeeded in convincing their parents that she can attend the Fatima Zahra School, and gather the firewood after class. Education is free in this school, and it meets the requirements of the state. Zamzama says that, “It is very nice to study at this school, because the environment is fit for learning, and the teachers are kind.”\u00a0The Fatima Zahra School is Zamzama’s chance at a better life. She is determined to continue her studies and become a teacher. She is a talented student and she enjoys helping her classmates with schoolwork. “I wish the school would find more supporters so that it could accept more students. There are a lot of families in Afghanistan that cannot afford to send their daughters to school, but all the girls in Afghanistan should have the opportunity to attend school,” says Zamzama.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1450702165112{margin-top: 0px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}” el_class=”stats”][vc_column width=”1\/2″]
