In Georgia, there is still no state-supported system of women’s shelters. In small towns and rural areas, the rights of women and girls are limited due to traditional gender roles. Women are often left in a vulnerable situation where they don\u2019t have the opportunity to defend themselves or stand up for their rights.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mondo’s partner in Georgia, Association Merkuri, combats with violence against women. In March 2018, with the help of Mondo, Merkuri opened the only women’s shelter in the Samegrelo region.
