Establishing of health workers’ vocational training in Helmand Province of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

The project aim is to launch vocational training of health workers in Helmand Province of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The project target group are employees of the provincial health board and health institutions. The project launches vocational training of health workers by establishing a training centre and support to the nurses and midwives’ school. The project is realised through the Helmand provincial health board and is supported by the Estonian health expert in Afghanistan.

As a main project outcome NGO Mondo sees launch of the system of vocational training for health workers. Other project objectives include:

  • establishment of the Helmand province vocational training centre for health workers and its material support;
  • equipping of nurses and midwives´ school of Helmand province with illustrative aids of teaching;
  • rising efficiency of the Estonian development cooperation.

In the framework of the project two high healthcare officials of Helmand province will visit Estonia to learn from the Estonian experience of establishing healthcare system.

The project will last until August 2011.

The project is financed from the development cooperation and humanitarian aid fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia.
