PROJECTS

Strong and safe civil society in Georgia

Project period: March 2025 – June 2025

Projekti rahastaja: ESTDEV – Estonian Centre for International Development

Project partner: World of Tolerance (Georgia)

Project budget: 24 364 €

Georgian civil society is facing several major challenges, including the daily threat of arrests and interrogations of activists and journalists, as well as increasing violations of media freedom and human rights. Amnesty International highlights in its report that freedom of expression has been significantly restricted in Georgia, especially following mass protests and the suspension of journalists’ accreditations. Civil society representatives are experiencing increased threats, defamation, and physical violence. This includes attacks against government critics, which are publicly endorsed by members of the government, as well as legislative changes that limit their freedom to operate.

Mondo supports a strong civil society in Georgia and raises awareness among NGOs, activists and journalists about their security and cybersecurity, providing them with practical skills on how to defend their rights and cope with situations of detention, interrogation and wiretapping.

As a result of the project, participants will have increased awareness of their own security and cybersecurity, improved skills for effective communication with different parties, and strong cybersecurity and privacy practices.
