Maavärin Afganistanis! Toeta Mondoga tütarlastekooli
On Monday night, an earthquake struck Afghanistan, killing over 1,400 people and destroying thousands of homes. The 6.0-magnitude earthquake was centered just 27 kilometers from Jalalabad – the city where Mondo-supported Fatima Zahra girls’ school, with 267 students, is located.
The need for assistance in the region is urgent! Support through Mondo here or on the platform Ma armastan aidata.
At Fatima Zahra Girls’ School, students come from families with the fewest opportunities. It is also the only school still operating under the Taliban regime in a region where thousands of school-age girls live. In a country where nearly half of the population—22.9 million people—needs humanitarian aid.
Among the school’s students are girls with disabilities, those being raised by a only one parent, or those who are internally displaced. There are also students whose families have been directly affected by conflict or natural disasters. In April 2024, sudden heavy rains hit the region, damaging the Fatima Zahra school building and the homes of many students.
The current earthquake has greatly worsened the situation for people already living in extremely difficult conditions, destroying entire villages and injuring tens of thousands. People affected by the earthquake urgently need everything—temporary shelter such as tents, blankets, medicine, clean drinking water, and food.
Thank you for your support!
