PROJECTS
Bridges of Belonging
Project period: January 2025 – December 2025
Project donor: UNHCR
Project partner: Tallinna Ülikool
Project budget: 100 310 €
Within the framework of the Bridges of Belonging project, Mondo supports the inclusion of refugees in Estonia and promotes a more cohesive and caring society.
As part of the project, 60 Ukrainian children participate in art therapy sessions that provide psychosocial support and help them better integrate into school life. In addition, 30 Ukrainian teachers with a refugee background take part in Estonian language courses to enable them to continue their careers within the Estonian education system. The project also offers training for 35 Estonian teachers, supporting them in addressing refugee-related topics and working with students who have experienced trauma.
Community events form an important part of the project, bringing together refugees and members of the local community, for example through music and the sharing of food traditions. Such encounters help reduce prejudice and foster mutual understanding. The project also highlights positive stories of refugees’ contributions to Estonian society, shared through both the media and Mondo’s own channels. In addition, workshops are organised in schools where refugees share their personal experiences, helping to build empathy among young people towards those with refugee backgrounds.
