Alleviating the Humanitarian Crisis in Syria
Project duration: October 2026 – December 2026
Project funder: Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Project partners: Equity and Empowerment
Project volume: 42 478 €
Mondo is helping to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Syria by providing people with the necessary humanitarian aid to survive the upcoming winter.
In Syria, 15.6 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance and over 5.5 million people are internally displaced. Many homes and vital infrastructure are damaged, basic services are under heavy strain, and most families lack a stable income. As a result, many families struggle to cope on a daily basis. In winter, the lack of warm clothes, blankets, and other necessary items increases cold-related risks. At the same time, poverty and insecure incomes make it difficult to purchase these items.
Aid is needed by both internally displaced people and those returning to damaged homes, as well as members of the local community facing economic hardships. People with special needs are in a particularly vulnerable situation.
With Mondo’s support, 250 people with special needs will receive winter aid and essential hygiene supplies in Daraya, rural Damascus, and Homs.
Mondo’s project is titled “Alleviating the Humanitarian Crisis in Syria by Providing Persons with Disabilities with Essential Hygiene Supplies, Warm Clothing, Blankets and Other Winter Essentials”
