PROJECTS

Raising digital competencies in Zhytomyr and Chernihiv oblasts

Project period: April 2024 – December 2025

Project donor: ESTDEV – Estonian Centre for International Development

Project budget: 305 445€

Analyses by OCHA clusters, international aid agencies and feedback from educators all point to a strong need to support the quality of and access to education in war.

Currently, there is no structured delivery of digital competence training for teachers in Ukraine.  They mostly use outdated teaching methods, and many teachers don’t have the basic skills to use modern methods to provide online learning for exploring educational topics.

In the context of a full-scale war, the state budget to support educational reforms in Ukraine is scarce and no international donor offers a systematic approach to developing the educational technological and digital skills of school staff and teachers to make learning more inclusive.

The aim of the project is to enhance the level of digital competences of teachers and education officials in Zhytomyr and Chernihiv oblasts. The initiative targets 14 municipalities, involving a total of 60 schools. Teacher training will take the form of a Training of Trainers (ToT) model, which foresees the training of 120 teacher-trainers and the delivery of follow-up training for 1200 of their colleagues. A new pilot programme will be developed for municipal officials to prepare 28 of them to promote innovative education reforms.
