Estonian Model United Nations 2026
Project period: January 2026 – June 2026
Project donor: European Union
Project budget: 41 350 €
Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational role-playing activity through which young people can gain a realistic experience of the United Nations decision-making process. Mondo has been organising MUN simulations in Estonia for several years with the aim of supporting youth participation and promoting democratic decision-making processes.
The MUN format gives young people the opportunity to develop skills in argumentation, public speaking, critical thinking, and intercultural cooperation.
In 2026, in addition to the main Estonian MUN event, Mondo Maailmakool will organize three pre-events in schools to reach young people who have had fewer opportunities to participate in international activities, including students from Ukrainian and Russian-speaking backgrounds.
The main conference in april 2026 will bring together approximately 80 young people aged 14–19, who will take on roles as delegates, committee chairs, and members of the media team. During committee sessions, participants debate global challenges and draft resolutions that are presented at the General Assembly. The project also includes meetings with decision-makers and experts to foster dialogue between youth and policymakers.
