Climate call: inspiring and engaging game for teachers and youth

Project period: June 2023 – October 2024

Project donor: Nordic Council of Ministers

Project partners: The Center for Citizenship Education (CCE), Climate Call

The science on climate change has sent a clear message for decades and the last Eurobarometer, studying Europeans attitudes towards climate change, concluded that “European citizens believe climate change is the single most serious problem facing the world”. Still, sufficient action has yet to materialize and in fact, currently, during the parallel energy crisis we see policies that will likely reduce the pace of Estonian, Polish and Swedish mitigation work. In Estonia and Poland national curricula and teaching materials such as official textbooks still lack adequate references to causes, effects and solutions of climate change. On the other hand, it is a relatively new and complex subject to teach.

With this project the partnerorganisations promote the awareness of climate change and related topic among teachers, students and the society as a whole. This is done through “easy to adopt” tools to teach climate change in combination with training. As the main tool the card game Climate Call will be translated to Estonian, Russian and Polish languages, accompanied by lesson plans for teachers and youth workers.

The project activities will train education workers to use the game and other thematic tools, additionaly an online workshop for Climate Call game will be hosted internationally for the youth.
