PROJECTS
Mapping and supporting the mental wellbeing of schools in Zhytomyr oblast
Project period: April 2024 – December 2024
Project donor: ESTDEV – Estonian Centre for International Development
Project partners: Clanbeat, Alliance of Resilience
Project budget: 141 275 €
Ukraine is facing a mental health crisis resulting from trauma caused by the war. The WHO estimates that nearly 10 million people are either at risk or currently experiencing mental health problems. Children are particularly affected.
Schools have become an important source of support for children and young people in need of psychosocial support. However, the traditional way of getting help from a school psychologist has become impractical or unfeasible, so there is a clear need for innovative solutions to make mental health support more accessible.
With this project we will pilot a mental well-being mapping solution developed by Estonian edtech start-up Clanbeat in 25 schools in Zhytomyr oblast. It will help assess the mental well-being of students and educators, and identify appropriate measures to support their mental health. The Clanbeat solution is based on holistic processes that have been worked out and tested in Estonian schools, designed to overcome the stigmas and increase access to local mental health resources and services. The project includes adapting the Estonian solution to the Ukrainian context, mapping relevant mental health support services, and providing workshops for platform coordinators and ongoing support during testing.
