Volunteering in Uganda and Tanzania
Project period: January 2026 – December 2027
Project donor: European Commission
Project partners: Infinite Opportunities Association (Bulgaria), Uganda Youth Skills Training Organisation, Save Africa’s Nature in Tanzania
Project budget: 120 065 € (full budget: 560 205 €)
Mondo volunteers support the resilience of more vulnerable communities by developing the skills of people. Over the years, Mondo has sent more than one hundred volunteers to over ten countries. Within the next two years, we will deploy six teams of 15 European volunteers to Uganda and Tanzania.
Uganda and Tanzania face multiple challenges, including the impacts of climate crises, protracted refugee situations, youth unemployment, and weak social infrastructure. These challenges create a need for solutions that combine humanitarian aid and development cooperation approaches, where volunteers play an important role in implementing practical, locally responsive solutions.
As part of the STORM C – Sustainable Transitions and Outreach for Resilience in Marginalized Communities project, volunteers in Uganda and Tanzania support people in rural communities who have had to cope with the effects of long-term conflicts, forced displacement, poverty, and climate change. Volunteers provide fast and flexible solutions that help strengthen community resilience.
During the project period, we will deploy six teams of 15 European volunteers who, over two months, will help build necessary facilities and improve schools and training centers. In addition, pipelines will be constructed and health and hygiene training will be carried out in rural areas. Children and young people will be offered non-formal and play-based learning.
