Syria

Mondo began providing humanitarian assistance in Syria in 2018.

We operate primarily in the field of education, providing digital skills courses for internally displaced persons and young people in rural areas. The study is based on the Mondo digital competences program developed in cooperation with Tallinn University.

Mondo’s partner is the Career Center at the University of Tishren in Latakia, Western Syria. The training program was attended by yuth who have moved to Latakia from other Syrian cities or come from surrounding villages. In villages, young people have difficulty accessing the internet and computer training. More than half of the students were girls. Syrian girls have less access to information technology than boys. The training takes place with recycled computers, mobile phones and tablets. The lessons are conducted by Syrian students, who were trained by MTÜ Mondo together with a team of Estonian experts in 2018.

The launch of Mondo Syria’s humanitarian aid activities was supported by the Helle Randam Foundation.
